Whether you process your own animal harvest or pick it up from a processor, you're likely familiar with the amount of waste left over from the process. Bone, organs, hide, sinew, silverskin, and fat often outweigh the usable cuts and products at the end of the butchering process. Lucky for us, there are numerous ways to get the most out of the harvest - one of which is TALLOW! Join us for a day of hands-on skill building walking you through the entire process of preparing, rendering, using tallow throughout your home. Attendees will leave with a jar of rendered tallow, a batch of cold process soap, and the confidence and knowledge to put this skill to use after her next harvest.

Still Waters Retreat

We are the Mummerts and are very excited to be stewarding this beautiful property. We are a family of 7 and love the outdoors, traveling, playing cards, and watching football. We began hosting faith based retreats in 2019 but never imagined owning a space where we could host those retreats. We are honored to be given this opportunity and look forward to partnering with you whether it is to plan a sabbatical, a getaway, or a larger retreat where you gather others together for a common goal.

8:00-9:00 - check in, coffee break, explore the property, golden hour photos

9:00 - Basics of Tallow and Lard

9:30 - Basics of Soap Making

10:00 - Cold-Process Soap Make & Take

11:00 - Tallow for the Kitchen, Home, Farm, and Skin

12:00 PM Depart

NOTES:

Lodging not included - there is onsite lodging for out of town guests that would like to stay the night including single bed and multibed cabins. Ladies interested in lodging are encouraged to reach out to TWO Coordinator Sara Nuechterlein to coordinate on site lodging. The closest town to the venue is Springtown, TX. There are a number of RV parks & vacation rentals in Springtown. There are hotels in nearby Azle & Weatherford.
